We were founded in 1947. We were established to promote square dancing in the state of Minnesota. The Square Dance Federation of Minnesota is made up of 22 Square Dance, Round Dance, Folk Dance and Clogging Clubs.
The Federation started with predominantly folk dances then square dancing became more and more popular changing the programs to half and half. When round dancing became popular it took the place of folk dancing. Clogging and Line dancing were eventually added as well. But ultimately the role of the Federation has not changed.
